The Ships of Star Trek: A Closer Look

USS Enterprise
Star Trek defined TV science fiction in the 1960s. Set ahead of its time (around 20th century), Star Trek showcased several technological wonders such as starships. Largely influenced by the starships of the TV series, some fans try to build their own Star Trek ships.
For non-Trekkies, a starship refers to a manned spacecraft that can travel and transport a crew across interstellar distances at great speeds. Star Trek ships are able to do that through spacecraft propulsion technologies such as warp drive.
One of the most well-known sci-fi spacecrafts ever is found in Star Trek, USS Enterprise, was the Flagship of the Federation. Since the TV series began, seven Star Trek ships have used the name and have gone to places “where no one has gone before.”
Popular as well is the starship that was under the command of Captain James T. Kirk. Touted as the starship that started it all, the USS Enterprise NCC-1701 launched from the San Francisco yards that revolve around the Earth in the year 2245. The original starship, which was used in the TV series, was designed by the first art director of Star Trek.
On the other hand, the starship that was under the command of Captain Jean-Luc Picard is the USS Enterprise NCC-1701-E. This Star Trek ship launched in 2371 and was able to stop the Borg’s assimilation of humanity the following year.
Another ship that was under the command of Picard was the USS Enterprise NCC-1701-D, which was launched in 2363 from the Utopia Planitia Shipyards that revolved around Mars. The ship was ruined in 2371 during a mission to halt the devastation of the Veridian system.
It’s easy to dress up in Star Trek uniform costumes to act like the crew of a Federation Starship.
